I believe that my clients know themselves better than anyone else, so my role is to provide resources and support to help them meet their goals. As a social worker, I also help my clients unpack how larger systems impact their mental health and relationships. I work from a queer-affirming, anti-oppressive, and neurodivergent-affirming approach to therapy.

Empowering Options is one of the most effective counseling approaches because our philosophy is to be uniquely on the side of the client. We concentrate on helping you learn, explore, and create your options. Options are in the perspective – the beliefs that you view yourself and the world through. As children, we believe what the adults in our lives told about the world and especially about ourselves. This profoundly affects us as adults. The way we view ourselves, our level of self-acceptance, self-esteem, and how we act in our lives and in our intimate relationships. The view we are given of ourselves determines our levels of self-esteem, and self–acceptance, and is one of the main reasons for problems in our relationships, with our partners, and in our parenting. Most of us were unintentionally taught, from a very young age, to think and feel against ourselves. So we do not have an objective view of ourselves and little compassion for how we handle the challenges we face. No charge for the first session to make sure it's a good fit. See the website for all other info.

I understand that seeking change or trying something different can be difficult. I enjoy working alongside my clients to help each individual achieve their therapy goals in a way that feels comfortable for them. By using an empathetic and client centered approach, I support and encourage my clients to focus on their strengths to overcome life’s challenges. I strive to create a safe and empowering space where clients can be vulnerable, explore new perspectives, and speak openly in an environment where they feel accepted rather than judged. I believe the relationship between client and therapist is essential in the helping process.

There are many ways we learn to cope with hurt, stress, and loss and, given our past experiences and upbringing, these ways can often involve avoidance – wanting to escape or numb the pain. This may look like excessive screen use, emotional eating, self-medicating, isolating, self-harm, etc. If you’re noticing that what helped you get by until now no longer works, if it’s impacting your ability to show up in your life and engage with the things you care about most, then I want to be your ally and support you through the process of change. My approach is collaborative, non-judgmental, and warm. In each session I prioritize creating a safe space for you to explore what brings you into therapy while providing a constructive environment, utilizing evidence-based approaches, to help you learn healthier coping strategies and facilitate the change you want to make. I want you to know that you are not alone and asking for help is an act of courage. I want to hear your story and have the privilege to accompany you on your journey of self-exploration, healing, and growth. To quote Brené Brown, “Owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing that we will ever do.”

Throughout our lives, we go through events that change us, often permanently. I consider therapy to be a sacred and compassionate space of exploration. It can be exhausting having to explain your story over and over again. Oftentimes we might feel unheard in our daily lives or get fixated on who we “should be” instead of exploring who we already are. Your story has meaning and it deserves to be heard. You are the expert on your own life experiences and identities. You deserve to feel empowered, validated, and safe. When meeting with a potential client I consider you in the context of your relationships, experiences, and culture. When working together we can move through difficult therapeutic concepts in an accessible and warm way. With your permission, I hope to guide you through challenging life transitions and support you in creating a life that you feel is worth living. I work from a collaborative, person-centered, relational, and strengths-based approach. This means I will use non-judgment to consider all aspects of your life and identity— while remaining open to things that cannot be changed. I utilize an intersectional feminist lens and I specialize in trauma, anxiety, boundaries, relationships, abuse, sexuality, gender exploration, life transitions, disability, memory loss, identity exploration, and resiliency work. MORE INFO ABOUT THE PRACTICE: We accept BCBS, Cigna, Aetna, and United PPO Plans, as well as, Sliding Scale rates. Currently, I have a variety of morning, early afternoon, and evening spots open! Please feel free to reach out.

While trauma can be generational, so can healing! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker currently based out of Illinois. Since I started working in the field, I have gained experience providing services to those who not only identified troubles due to mental health, but who have also struggled with addiction. I received my MSW from the University of Northern Iowa in 2018 where I specialized in trauma processing and trauma-informed care. I am also an EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Trained Therapist; I find this modality has been especially helpful for individuals who have experienced trauma but can also be used for other mental health diagnoses such as depression and anxiety. While my previous work experience has an emphasis on trauma and addiction, I am also comfortable working with issues such as depression, anxiety, and anger management among other different diagnoses. I have also had the joy of working with individuals of all ages. I like to use an eclectic approach when it comes to treatment modalities because I believe that there is no “one-size-fits-all” when it comes to therapy. I truly believe that one is the expert of their own experiences, so I enjoy working collaboratively with individuals to tailor their mental health services to meet their needs. I pride myself on providing a welcoming and inclusive space for the individuals I work with to feel heard and to heal from their past and present. I want everyone I work with to know that their feelings are valid, and hope that they leave feeling empowered to take on life’s challenges! I am part of the Path referral network, which means that when you reach out, my team will get back to you quickly to schedule our first session. I am also committed to making therapy affordable. Through Path, I am in-network for most commercial insurances, so you're only responsible for your co-pay!

No matter what is going on right now, you have taken a huge step in seeking out help for yourself and/or your family. It is often very difficult for people to admit that they need help, and now that you have taken the initial step I would be honored to come alongside you and your family and assist you with whatever you are experiencing. I believe in building on your strengths and increasing your resiliency. I specialize in trauma, and utilize Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to help you process your trauma. I also enjoy helping families with behavior difficulties, mood disorders, and anxiety. I am able to adapt to you and find a strategy that works best with you. I primarily work from an Internal Family Systems perspective, and incorporate in EMDR as needed.

Reaching out for help can be difficult and the thought of seeing a therapist can seem intimidating. I believe that with the right therapist, you can express yourself freely without fear of judgement and receive the support you need and desire. No two people's journey and life experiences are the same, so I take an individualized approach with my clients. I love helping clients feel their feelings, address their anxiety and fear of failure, and feel empowered to grow and change habits. I specialize in aiding clients with managing relationship challenges, developing better routines, managing their emotions, and implementing boundaries. I utilize values, humor, and compassion so we can build an authentic, therapeutic relationship to make changes. In sessions, I will often bring us back to the present moment to build awareness and identify old patterns of behaviors so we can create new habits. I strive to provide a welcoming environment that will support your unique development of self-awareness, vulnerability, and growth. Together, we will identify your goals for treatment and work towards those in a collaborative process. I value feedback so I can ensure your goals and voice are at the heart of our work. I look forward to our journey together!

Hi, I’m Danielle, and I help people who are struggling with depression and anxiety find their way back to feeling like themselves again. Life can get heavy sometimes—maybe you’re feeling constantly overwhelmed, stuck in negative thoughts, or just tired of pretending you’re okay when you’re not. I get how exhausting that can be. In our work together, my goal is to create a space where you can be real—no pressure, no judgment. We’ll talk through what’s weighing on you, explore where those feelings come from, and find tools that actually work for you. Whether it’s learning how to quiet that inner critic, manage anxiety in the moment, or just start feeling more like you again. We’ll take it one step at a time, together. You don’t have to go through this alone. I’m here to support you in a way that feels honest, empowering, and genuinely helpful.
